So have the captains been given their team lists? what should we the players be expecting in the week to come? come on hoo ha ra ra!
jonlim said,
November 22, 2009 @ 4:23 pm
hi i’m the jonathan lim in team 16.
me & david ng (who got put into team 6) signed up as buddies.
is there any reason why we got put into seperate teams?
because according to your guidelines, i’m quite sure i qualify as a newb.
thanks and sorry for the trouble.
kelvyntan said,
November 23, 2009 @ 2:01 pm
oh, cos there were too many buddy-ings at this league so there was a need to cut down some
curious said,
November 23, 2009 @ 3:10 pm
if buddies were to be split up due to too many buddy-ings what is the use of buddies in the first place? its SCREWED!
old gold said,
November 23, 2009 @ 4:36 pm
should’ve let jonlim know earlier to be courteous or give him an option to withdraw since this is supposed to be a newbie friendly league. or its not?
e said,
November 24, 2009 @ 2:38 am
That… defeats the purpose of newb buddying doesnt it? To facilitate the introduction of the game to newer players by providing them the opportunity to play with players that they know and have met before, so they might develop better in a more comfortable environment?
alexander lim said,
November 27, 2009 @ 5:20 pm
kelvyn, haha why you anyhow say?
anyway buddies were only allocated if BOTH parties indicated that they wanted to buddy and stated the friend they were buddying with. so if one party didn’t indicate, the buddies unfortunately were not allocated.
however, there were almost 400 people who were buddied in this league, and from my understanding there were a few minorities of cases where these buddies were missed out.
e said,
November 28, 2009 @ 6:13 pm
Yes, but those affected should get prior notice and given the offer to back out if they feel uncomfortable with the idea playing without that buddy. Right now it might seem like a dumb idea since I know I wouldn’t care, but at least by asking nobody can complain about it, and if they really are adamant about not wanting to play without buddy, then they can leave.
Fat Boy Gay said,

Wow. either some teams get it lucky or the hat draft structure is a bit screwed.
wednesday said,
November 22, 2009 @ 5:20 pm
actually most teams are weak, only 1 or 2 teams look a little stacked. but what to do, gotta just suck it up and live with it.
Dawn said,

so few girls per team?
gingerlyn said,
November 23, 2009 @ 3:38 pm

Hey winterleague comm, could you send the captains the particulars of his/her team? thanks! that would facilitate team-bonding activities

aaron said,

pardon the grammar.
old gold said,
November 23, 2009 @ 4:48 pm
chill dude this is Ultimate.
the organisers are not paid (or maybe they are). i know the previous ones don’t.
and don’t expect to get much gametime if you’re a guy Aaron cos with the 4guys-3gals format there’ll be at least 3.5 lines for guys.
shan said,
November 24, 2009 @ 9:07 am
apparently, it’s only possible for 5-2 and 6-1 at this stage.
aaron said,
November 24, 2009 @ 12:23 pm
haha I’m pretty sure I’m a guy but.. just get to know more people and have fun I guess. thanks anyway:P

think the league comm mentioned that this league will be 5-2 ratio
Toke said,
November 24, 2009 @ 3:17 am
hey winter league comm, i think u all screwed up on team 12 capt? evelyn leong is my friend and only started playing bout 2 mths ago and shes a capt???
jemzluv09 said,
November 24, 2009 @ 7:59 am
Hi Toke,
Wow….why such strong language? She is only captain there as she indicated on her list that she wanted to be captain. Would be tough if it were the other way and we did not include her as captain right?
Are you now saying that she does not want to be captain anymore cos we have not heard anything from her. Please get her to drop us an email by 5pm today if she wants to pull out. Thanks
LUV 09 Org Comm
Toke said,
November 24, 2009 @ 8:49 am
hmmm ok sowee if u think “screwed up” was a strong language… anw i just talked to her and she really has no intention of being a capt. she has only been playing for 2 mths and only joined winter league coz i asked her too. she’s a total newb and cant be expected to lead a team. she probably made a mistake while signing up. Could u assign someone else to be a capt? ( asking on her behalf )
will greatly appreciate it. thanks.

nicholas said,

toke its the way you talked, not only the words you used. You sounded like they owe you something like that. Email the comm can rather than post here? winterleague0910@gmail.com
And to others posting here. If you have problems like the buddy splitting up problem, pls email the comm and not seek redress here? Show some loving spirit guys. I’m sure you can work out a solution with the comm.
cyn said,

hey league comm!
thanks so much for the list, it must’ve been pretty hard work. and in your defence, i guess it couldnt’ve been done any better. (:
just a question/suggestion though, do you guys think it is possible to have the format changed so that we can have a 5-2 league (or 6-1, if need be/offense calls)? currently, its listed as a strict 4-3, 3-4 league. but looking at the number of girl sign ups. its hard on the girls, even with a full turnout, to play a 4-3, 3-4. and if we dont have a full team of girls, we might even have to savage all the way through! if we go 5-2, girls still get plenty of play time and this helps give boys more playtime too.
let me know what you think?
thanks!

League comm, why are we updating the teams and “balancing” the teams up? Some teams seem to be more stack now than before.

You are in Team A-9!
agent07 said,

I am just wondering, why are we breaking buddies up or transferring people from one team to another? If you guys have the initial idea of a hat draft, then i guess you all should stick to it. if not why, dont we just redraft all the teams and let the captains pick their players? tat makes more logical sense.

hey people!
i think we should be thankful that there are people whom are willing to help us organise the league, an avenue for us to play with and learn from each other on voluntary basis, shouldn’t we?
organising is also a form of learning isn’t it? =)
so appreciate, and give constructive feedback instead of saying what is not good or screwed. that’d definitely help much better for sure
cheers to winter league! =D
